Food Technology.

Food Technology?

Most of people who do not know what is food technology will say it is about 'cooking'. So, they are totally wrong. Something that related to cook is called culinary.
Food Technology is similar to Food Science. Certain university combine food technology and food science into one degree program. Food science encompasses engineering, the physical sciences and biology to examine food, its deterioration and the processing methods used. Food technology is the study of food industry issues and the research and solutions to these issues. They will learn how to apply solutions to properly create and preserve food.





What is Food Technologist?

Food technologists are highly trained professionals who are responsible for making our food is safe and accurately labelled. They work with food scientists and other Food Technologist to complete research projects and apply the findings.
What do Food Technologist do?

As a food technologist, or a food scientist, they will,

  • research and develop foods that are safer and healthier for consumption.
  • create the different kinds of food products for consumers. 
  • keeping quality control on food.
  • developing new foods, flavors and colors.
  • design processes for food production in large amounts while maintaining texture and flavor.
  • survey consumers or look into markets to discover trends or new foods.
  • ensure the safety and hygiene of food production.
  • tasting finished products to guarantee consistency.

Food technologists work in all aspects of the food industry and with all different kinds of food, including fresh foods and packaged foods. They may also enter a supervisory position, managing production and quality control.
